iPhone 12 Pro: too much blurring with autofocus?

Some iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max have autofocus issues? Our colleague iGen found that several iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max users are struggling to get perfectly sharp autofocus when shooting in artificial light or in low light. The iGen journalist’s iPhone 12 Pro also has the same problem. On the other hand, no autofocus error is reported on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, which seems to support the thesis of a defective LiDAR batch.

Note, however, that the problem does not affect ALL iPhone 12 Pros in circulation (my iPhone 12 Pro’s autofocus works wonderfully), and we can only speculate about the causes of this very annoying error. LiDAR (active for autofocus in low light conditions) is a particularly complex and fragile component, and it cannot be ruled out that a batch may have left the factory with a certain defect … After all, the latest version of iOS 14 does not seem to fix the problem. And you, dear reader, have you noticed a problem with the autofocus of your iPhone 12 Pro?
