Foxconn starts production of the iPhone 12s “Made in India” in early 2021

Apple is accelerating the movement in India. Foxconn will begin production of iPhone 12 test devices at its Chennai plant, India. This iPhone 12 “Made in India” is intended exclusively for the Indian market. Wistron had previously received a tip to produce the iPhone 12 mini at its factory in Kolar, southern India, but recent employee unrest has completely frozen current projects.

The Chennai plant is currently producing iPhone 11 and XRs, also exclusively for the Indian market. In addition, the Indian Ministry of Industry has just approved Foxconn’s new investment plan. The Chinese supplier has agreed to pay $ 337 million in return for 124,000 square meters of usable land near the Chennai plant. Foxconn already employs almost 20,000 people in the region.
