The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are by far the best-selling 5G smartphones in the world. If we are to believe the Counterpoint numbers, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro sales accounted for 24% of all 5G cellphone sales in October (16% for the iPhone 12 and 8% for the iPhone 12 Pro). The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G lags far behind with only 4% Pdm, followed by Huawei Nova 7 and P40 (3% Pdm each). If we group by manufacturer, Apple still dominates (24%), followed by Huawei (9%), Samsung (8%) and Oppo (5%).
For Counterpoint, the enormous success of the iPhone 12/12 Pro is mainly due to the Chinese market, but also to the USA, thanks to the huge popularity of the Millimeter Wave 5G (not supported on iPhone models sold in Europe). Counterpoint finally finds that the iPhone 12/12 Pro was available in 140 countries at launch, which is nowhere near the case for most competing devices.
